Anyone have ideas for a last day of school ceremony or activity?
Pack up all the workbooks, materials, portfolios in one box each, let them decorate it and put it out in the garage.
Go the ice cream joint for anything you want!
Blow-up balloons and let them write all their favorite things from the year and then pop them or the things they found frustrating and then pop them.
In home graduation ceremony, let the kids write and deliver a speech over snacks.
You could coordinate an End-of-Year party at a local park during the day while the public schools are still in session. Invite all your homeschool friends! Make someone (or several) in charge of games and let everyone know what food/drink item to bring. Other ideas are to have a craft table & activity (again, don’t be afraid to give that to someone), allow (or not) kids to bring their own bikes, or even have a sale or give-away table for moms to pass along school items they are done with. Bubbles, water guns/balloons, frisbees, or sidewalk chalk, are all good ideas for unstructured fun. You can make it as simple or as structured as suits you–the kids will love it either way!
